When Food Truck Invasion asked me to write about a Food Truck I instantly thought of Pescados Unidos. I believe they are one of the unsung heroes of the South Florida Food Truck scene. From day one, Chef Kevin Dreifuss and his team set out to make the world a better place with their seafood menu. His Fish Sausage is one of the menu items that have made a gigantic splash. It was one of the featured dishes at the 2013 South Beach Wine & Food Festival Food’s Food Trucks on Midtown’s Tracks. You should really check out this video to see “Capitan Kevin” in action:
It’s always good to see what they have cookin’ as a special cause you might find something like this great Quinoa Salad. And of course there’s Ceviche and Fish Tacos on the menu too that you shouldn’t miss.
His passion really comes through when we’ve had food competitions amongst the trucks. During National Hamburger Month he stepped up and out of his underwater layer to create a delicious beauty of a Burger called El Chupacabra (12 oz Sirloin/Chuck Blend, Peppered Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Roasted Poblano Pepper, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Chive Aioli on a Brioche Bun). The Hot Dog Fest saw the debut of the Deep Sea Diver Dog aka Corn Dog stuffed with Fish Sausage served with a side of homemade Smoked Tomato Ketchup and Mango Mustard. And for the Top Turkey Challenge he did the Pavo Frita (Turkey Burger Topped w/Shoestring Sweet Potatoes with Cranberry Aioli & a Stuffing Bun).
What I’m trying to say is that the man can cook, he’s not a one trick pony. So go by the Pescados Unidos Food Truck, order and enjoy. Tell ’em the Beast sent you.
